The second regular coffee morning staged at the Scunthorpe centre drew a larger number of visitors than the first, filling the room with chatter and laughter.
And for the next, a Christmas-themed event on Tuesday 19th between 10am and noon, attendance promises to be even higher.
“It was a delight to see so many members coming in with their partners,” said Provincial Communications Officer Stuart Pearcey. “Because people don’t need to book in, it’s always a bit of a worry that no-one will turn up, but those fears have so far been unfounded.
”That’s a ringing endorsement of the value of bringing Freemasons together in boosting wellbeing and combatting the feelings of isolation that might be felt by older members who no longer feel able to attend evening meetings.”
Members of the Province’s Petitions Committee take the same view about the welfare potential, which is why they’ve agreed to fund the initiative.
“We’re grateful for the support from the Committee, and so are the people who join us on the first and third Tuesdays between 10am and noon,” added Stuart.
