Former Deputy Provincial Grand Master John Hockin made a surprise entrance at the meeting of William Peters Lodge in Grantham to mark the occasion of Alan Newton’s fifty years in Freemasonry.
He invited Alan to join him in two chairs on the floor of the lodge, where they proceeded to have a wide-ranging conversation about his masonic career, culminating in the presentation of a Certificate from the PGM.
The approach was met with much acclaim from the assembled brethren, and Alan, now 87 years old, expressed pride and appreciation of the way John conducted the presentation – and looks forward to maybe a sixty-year certificate!
