Lincolnshire Scout Groups have been helped to sustain a near fifty-year tradition thanks to Lincolnshire Freemasons’ scouting-themed Lodge.
With the help of members of the Rudyard Kipling Lodge the scouts were able to take part in Jamboree On The Air – or JOTA for short.
JOTA is an international Scouting and Guiding activity held on the third full weekend in October every year, which began in 1957. It enables Scouts and Guides from across the globe to communicate with each other via amateur radio.
Lodge Secretary and Amateur Radio Operator Dennis Roberts supplied the radio equipment. He said: “It’s always great to see young people getting involved with a form of communication they may otherwise not experience.”
Lodge Master Owen Jenkins and his wife Sam were on hand with refreshment and tasty treats for everyone involved. Owen said: “We are so happy as a Lodge that we can help to make this event happen for our local groups. It’s great to see them all enjoying themselves.”
