Young Freemasons

Everyone becoming a Lincolnshire Freemason instantly becomes a member of a support group created exclusively for them. They’re the Lincolnshire Rough Ashlars, whose members meet throughout the Province to help newer members navigate their first steps in Freemasonry through regular social events like pub quizzes, brewery visits, go-karting, and anything else members suggest.

Club members also visit Lodges when new members join to give them the warmest possible welcome. Membership costs absolutely nothing (but some activities naturally require a ticket to cover the cost of admission, but otherwise Rough Ashlars is free).

The name Rough Ashlar is taken from Freemasonry’s rich symbolism. An ashlar is a piece of stone; a rough one has yet to be shaped for its place in whatever is being built. A Rough Ashlar is therefore a metaphor for an inexperienced Freemason.
