Santa’s little helpers in the form of Freemasons from Crowle lightened the jolly old gentleman’s Christmas workload by giving almost £600 and more than 40 toys to the Isle of Axholme Foodshare Project and its Toy Drive initiative to help deliver happiness for the 250 people it supports with food parcels every week.
Members of Temple Belwood Lodge chipped in £250 from their charity account, and that was boosted by the donation of brand new toys and £324 gathered at the latest Lodge meeting.
Lodge member Matt Dunstan said: “It’s a Christmas tradition in Crowle that members of Temple Belwood and Vermuyden Lodges act as waiters for each others meetings in December, adding to the festive spirit. We were pleased to be able to support the Foodshare Project because none of us should forget that there are people who, for reasons beyond their control, aren’t always able to enjoy the kind of Christmas we all look forward to.
“Members of both Lodges wanted to do what they could to support the Foodshare Project’s Toy Drive too, which is why we gave more than 40 brand new toys; playing our part in making sure no child in the Isle of Axholme would wake up on Christmas Day without a toy.
