Four million free comfort teddies and counting! That’s the Freemasons’ Teddies For Loving Care running total of bears given to children going through traumatic times in their young lives.
The latest delivery of bears from Lincolnshire scheme co-ordinator Graham Cadel was from Grantham hospital. Graham said: “I put out a cry for help to the Free Wheelers Lodge to take a supply of TLC teddies to Grantham Hospital.
”The result is that at half-past nine on a fine Saturday morning, much to the surprise of my neighbours, help arrived in the shape of four large motorbikes and their riders.
“The children who receive these Teddies will treasure them, and their parents will be comforted to know that people they have never met care enough to provide the teddies to help their children.”
MEANWHILE, An athletic TLC teddy has just completed the Rowbotham’ 50-Mile Round Rotherham Trail Race , completing the course in under 24 hours.
The circular race set off from Manvers Boating club and took him through the South Yorkshire Forest and past Roche Abbey. His support party was Phil Crabtree from Minster Lodge in Lincoln.
Completing the course in time means that he can take part in a 100-mile challenge in 48 hours in Kent in May next year when, once again, his support party will be Phil Crabtree. The TLC Teddy was sponsored by friends and family and raised £400 for the Teddies charity so that more children can be supported.
