A cheque for £500 from The New Provincial Benevolent Fund was delivered by Mike Sutton on behalf of the Saint James Lodge to Mrs Ann Walker who is the Community Ambassador, Grimsby, Cleethorpes and District Fund Raising Group for Marie Curie.
Marie Curie nurses provide care for people with any type of terminal illness whether it be cancer or any other illness such as motor neurone disease. The care and support given to the patient and their families is always free of charge. Locally nine Marie Curie nurses provide up to 140 hours of dedicated night care ( 10 pm to 8am ) per week plus extra hours as and when required. The cost to the Charity is £20 per hour and their is a growing demand for Marie Curie services as more people are living longer, many are living with one or more illnesses.
