A full English fry-up at the Witch and Wardrobe in Lincoln has been the latest initiative from Paulinus Lodge to get members together in a Covid-safe manner – and plans are already being made to enhance the idea.
The breakfast gathering added to the #Lincs 2025 Festival total, and was accompanied by much laughter. The meeting built on the Lodge’s use of technology to keep members in touch with each other. Its WhatsApp group has 40 members, and a weekly Zoom meeting has allowed them to hear talks about other brethren’s working lives and interests. That’s exposed them to the world of auctioneering, travel, and the Enigma machine.
Lodge member Nick Brown said: “At the breakfast a good time was had by all, and the group included the latest candidate who will join the lodge’s ranks as a Lewis when we are able to initiate in a manner that will enable him to ‘fully follow in his father’s footsteps.’
“The next breakfast meeting takes place on November 8th, and will be followed by a walking tour and commentary to show the city’s buildings used by the its Freemasons over the years. It is open to any Freemasons from Lincolnshire. For more details, or to book in, contact me: nicktheonion@hotmail.com – but be quick; places are limited.”
Weekly meetings and the inaugural breakfast have raised almost £1,000, and Paulinus Lodge was amongst the first in the UK, and the first in Lincolnshire, to hold a post-lockdown meeting.
