Lincoln Freemasons have come together to recreate a ‘deja vu’ milestone in the history of Freemasonry in the city.
It’s from 1931, on the evening on which the Ashlar Lodge was consecrated as the city’s sixth Lodge. Today there are eight, whose current masters all feature in the picture above.
But it’s the pictures below that show the ‘deja vu’ moment. The first is from 1931, showing the Masters of all six Lodges at the time; the one below that shows the Masters of those same six Lodges sitting in the same places.
Says Darren Sewell, current Master of the Ashlar Lodge: “The hardest part was looking austere! The masters in our re-staged picture are in exactly the same positions as the original Masters – and the pedestal in the centre of the picture is the self-same item, still in use to this day.”
