Hundreds of teddy bears collected by the late wife of Lincolnshire Freemason Michael Carter are to find a new purpose in life – by comforting Ukrainian children who have lost everything.
The collection of hundreds of bears had been accumulated over many years by Michael’s wife Hilary, who died from cancer three years ago this month.
Michael said: “When we knew Hilary didn’t have long to live, she requested that the family kept the rare and special teddies, with others distributed as we wished, preferably to a children’s charity.
“Those wishes have been carried out with the help of Lincoln’s ‘Teddy Man’ Graham Cadel, who sustains the Teddies for Loving Care scheme in Lincolnshire. He collected the boxes and took them to the Lincoln Ukraine Distribution Centre, where the donation was gratefully accepted.
“Hilary would have been delighted that her treasures will comfort children who, through no fault of their own, have lost everything.”
