Members of Scunthorpe’s Pharos Freemasons Lodge have bought kitchen equipment to help Karen Baker recover from a heart operation.
Karen, who works for the caterers who prepare meals for members at Scunthorpe’s Freemasons Hall, must undergo an operation to repair damage to her aorta, caused by a progressive degenerative condition. Said Lodge Almoner Mick Wright: “That will mean protracted post-surgery recovery time, during which she’ll be confined to a wheelchair.”
Members have provided a large fridge freezer and a microwave, both of which will help with preparing food after the surgery duringKaren’s impaired mobility.
The picture shows Karen receiving the fridge freezer from Lodge Master Dave Sefton, left, who’s holding the microwave, donated by Dave West, with John McArthur the lodge charity steward.
Karen said: “These things will make my life much easier; thank you for your kindness and assistance.”
