Weather that would have had Noah reaching for his Ark plans didn’t stop Lincolnshire Freemasons smiling during the latest incarnation of Masons&Motors at Doddington Hall.
It’s true that the questionable weather forecast did keep some away, but those that did attend were still able to enjoy the day and share Freemasonry’s fellowship. Provincial Grand Master Dave Wheeler said: “It was a great effort from everyone involved. The atmosphere was lovely, and it was good to catch up with everyone. Despite the rain, we enjoyed it.”
Dave Gibson, who ‘invented’ the event and has been the driving force behind it ever since, said: “Thanks to everyone who visited or who helped to stage the event. In spite of the rain it wasn’t a total failure. We had 32 cars, 15 bikes, and Steve Siddle’s fire engine. We collected almost £300 in donations for the Festival. We shall have to pray for better weather for next year’s event, which will take place on July 19th.”

Steve Siddle’s fire engine was by far the largest vehicle on display. Devoid of creative comforts for driver and passengers, at its top speed of a little over 40mph it’s so loud that Steve has to wear hearing protection.
