Teddy Man Graham Cadel is pushing on towards helping Freemasons’ Charity Teddies For Loving Care to give away its four millionth bear in England and Wales – this time with the help of the Lincoln Masonic Ladies Luncheon Club.
The Club has given Graham £250 to buy more bears, which give comfort to children faced with potentially-frightening times in hospital.
He said: “I’m very grateful to the ladies for giving me this money to help sustain the charity in Lincolnshire.
“The children given these bears by hospital staff take enormous reassurance from them – and their parents and carers are reassured too; they find it helpful to know that the Freemasons, people they don’t know, wants to support their child through a tough time.”
Graham added: “The success of this scheme in England and Wales has been recognised by Freemasons around the world; similar schemes have been started in New Zealand and Maine in the USA – the latter after publicity on the Lincolnshire web site.”
The Lincoln Masonic Ladies Lunch Club meets in Lincoln for a two-course lunch every third Wednesday of the month, with the meal usually followed by a speaker. When there’s no speaker the group enjoys a ‘natter day’ and quiz. The only qualification for membership is to have a Freemason in the family. Annual membership of the group is £15, and the meal costs £19 each month.
“We’d love to share our lunch dates with others,” said organiser Jill Pritchard. “For more details and to book a place, email me at alan.pritchard1@btinternet.com
