When a someone joins Freemasonry the members of the Lodge make it a special evening by delivering a ceremony in the form of a playlet; each piece of ritual being delivered from memory.
But how do you learn the words for a ceremony so often described by candidates as enlightening and bewildering in equal measure? As a team, Lincolnshire’s Lodge mentors know just how hard that can be.
Members may have joined Freemasonry for different reasons, but all are encouraged to eventually take part in our ceremonies. Initially to learn small parts of ritual but this can be very daunting. Many ask the experienced ritualist and their mentors: “How do you manage to learn, retain and deliver this?”
There is no easy answer, as each approach learning in different ways. However, we hope our guide and menu of strategies will provide a selection of techniques and options. It is designed to be a resource and toolkit to be used- as is best with learning- a little and often. The objective is clear – we want to support brethren in learning and make that journey as enjoyable as possible. So that they may learn, deliver and experience being part of the ceremonies that have endured since time immemorial.
We hope you enjoy it, and your journey through Freemasonry.
