Spilsby Freemasons are pleased with the response to their open day in the town.
Martin Reeve, part of the organising group, said the day had resulted in two potential members for Eccles Lodge, which meets at the Spilsby centre, as well as a potential candidate for the Order of Women Freemasons, who also took part in the day.
Martin said: “All in all it’s been a good day for Freemasonry, and was well supported by our Province.” The Provincial presence included a promotional gazebo with displays of literature and regalia in the Market Place. Visitors were able to tour the Spilsby ,Masonic centre on Halton Road, where they were able to meet members of the Lincolnshire Rough Ashlars, and club for more junior members of the Province, and members of the Order of Women Freemasons.
Amongst the visitors was Andrew Cox, the District Deputy Grand Secretary of Germany for Mark Freemasons (a subdivision of Freemasonry). In the UK to visit family, he took the opportunity for a detour to Spilsby to say ‘Hi’.
Freemasons have been meeting in Spilsby since May 1835, and are formed into two Lodges there – Eccles and Shakespeare.
