An icy, foggy morning in Cleethorpes set the scene for the second parkrun joined by a team of Lincolnshire Freemasons which drew 250 participants for the 5K run, walk or jog.
David Freeman, Provincial Parkrun lead said he had been delighted with the positive atmosphere of open mental health discussion.
”As the Free Wheelers Master Elect, I am determined to continue the Lodge’s focus on supporting mental health to anyone in need.
“Provincial Almoner Charlie Jackson and Lodge Treasurer Keith Edwards took park in the festive exercise session, but the star of the morning (unless you count Chris Fletcher appearing disguised as a Christmas tree) was Neil Hardy of Pelham Pillar Lodge, at a spritely 72 years young and taking part in his 159th parkrun.
“Neil proves that your age should not be a barrier and stop you getting out for some exercise.
A walk or a jog provides the perfect opportunity to mix with others and talk about how you’re feeling, especially if you’re not feeling great.
“Check out Parkrun on line, sign up for free and join us for our next planned outing in Boston on 24th January.”
“Parkrun takes place in many locations every Saturday morning at 9am. If you don’t fancy running or walking, you can always volunteer as a steward to support the events. Share your Parkrun with us if you take part.”
