Deeping Freemasons have met charities from their area to discover what’s been made possible through donations of almost £2,500 made this year.
Chris Rushbrook, St Pega’s Charity Steward, said: “It was very interesting to hear about the great work so many people are doing in the community, but it was also humbling to hear about the challenges some people face on a day to day basis. We are just pleased we are able to support some of the charities, to enable them to reach into the community.”
After the ‘more formal’ part of the evening about 60 people moved on to Maharanis Indian Restaurant, where a four-course meal was served. Lodge master Matthew Mills said: “During my year as Master of the lodge I wanted to ensure we were able to support local groups and charities that in turn were supporting the local community”.

The feedback from the evening was very positive, with great food, wonderful service and excellent company. With the generosity of Maharanis adding to the money raised by the lodge it helped raise a figure of almost £2,500. Add Matthew: “Given the success I’m sure we’ll see this as an annual event in the community calendar in the Deepings.”
