Lincoln Freemasons continue to pump money into services vital to people living in our county, with almost £2,500 being split between the Air Ambulance and Combat Stress – both of which require financial support to sustain their services.
The money has come from the members of Minster Lodge in Lincoln, and was raised at a summer barbecue, a Christmas Lunch, a dinner dance, and regular raffles at Lodge meetings during the year in which Jim Bennett was Master of the Lodge.
Lodge Secretary Graham Cadel said: “Our members chose to support these to charities because of the life-changing work they do and the significant costs involved in making that happen. For example, each mission flown by the Air Ambulance costs several thousand pounds. Everyone helped by its dedicated teams will vouch that there could hardly be a service which is less valuable in times of medical emergency in our rural counties.”
He added that Lodge members had wanted to support Combat Stress in the work it did in supporting former members of the armed forces by offering therapeutic and clinical community and residential treatment for those suffering a range of mental health conditions including post traumatic stress disorder.
The Lodge gave £1,245 to the Air Ambulance and £1,100 to combat stress, with the latter donation being handed over to serving RAF Police officers who asked us not to reveal their identities.
