Members of the Masonic community of Grimsby and Cleethorpes have given almost £800 to the Humberston Park Special Hydrotherapy Pool where pupils with severe physical needs enjoy treatment to relax tight muscle groups and ease stiff joints.
The funds came as £273 raised at an Astral Lodge raffle, boosted by £500 from the Anderson Bates Masonic Benevolent Fund. Philip Mclean (the Master of Astral Lodge), Keith Appleton, Mike Kelly (the Astral Lodge Charity Steward) and Mike Sutton attended to hand the cash to Brian Marsh, the pool’s trustee coordinator.
The £500 from the Anderson Bates Masonic Benevolent Fund was as a result of the grant being Astral Lodge’s turn for the donation, and the choice of the hydrotherapy pool being the recipient, was made by W Bro McLean.
The school’s purpose-built hydrotherapy pool has tracking hoists to assist pupils with severe physical needs in and out of the pool. Hydrotherapy is a water-based treatment where the warm water relaxes tight muscle groups and eases stiff joints. The purpose of the pool is to offer therapy both to those pupils attending Humberston Park Special School and individuals within the community who have a severe physical impairment and/or a medical condition.
