Through a wide variety of practical workshops and supported work placements, the charity aims to help develop life and employment skills, to increase their self-esteem and independence, and ultimately improve their quality of life.
It operates a Grimsby day centre, a day service in Caistor, and food banks. These services are complemented by social enterprise and retail sites which provide training and volunteering opportunities to clients, as well as providing a means of revenue for charitable work.
The Rock Foundation supports over 90 students through its day service provision, as well as providing supported living opportunities for up to 12 residents. Additionally, food banks currently provide support to around 420 people every week.
The award of £500 was made from the Freemasons’ New Provincial Benevolent Fund, which gives each of 76 Lodges in Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, and North East Lincolnshire that amount to pass on to the good cause of its choice.
The Foundation’s Caistor site manager Steve Small said the money would be used to support people with earning difficulties to develop basic business and social skills through job opportunities in the Foundation’s tearoom at Caistor.
