The Grantham Journal did Freemasonry proud with excellent coverage of unveiling of a plaque commemorating the life and times of one of the town’s founding members of the Doric Lodge of Freemasons.
Proudly displayed in the Market Place, where he lived, the plaque records the life of Manual Immanuel, a painter of national repute, whose work was shown at exhibitions in London. He was also a much sought-after theatre stage designer. His name is recorded in the very first entry in the Lodge’s minute book, written on December 18th, 1819. Bro Immanuel was active in the Lodge until his death in 1834.
