Charity Steward Barry Merrison representing Freemasons of Excalibur Lodge in Lincoln has presented a cheque for £500 to David Jackson and Lydia Gibbs, administrators for mental health support group A Platform to Talk.
The group was set up by the late Bro. Philip Merrison of St Peter Lodge to help and encourage people suffering with mental problems to come out and talk and seek help.
Said Barry; “He suffered with depression and anxiety and but with all the help he gave to many people it beat him in the end. His professional friends asked if they could carry on his good work so A Platform to Talk was created.
“It carries on his name, offering help counselling and advice to anyone, of any age who may be suffering. Anybody needing help can contact them through their Facebook page – wherever they are and no matter what their age.”
The money comes from Lincolnshire Freemasons’ New Provincial Benevolent Fund, which offers £500 to every one of its 75 Lodges to pass on to the charity of their choice.
