Widows of the members of Lindum Lodge No.5777 have been entertained to an afternoon tea in Lincoln’s Nightingale Rooms.
The event was hosted by the WM W.Bro David Barnes, who brought it from Tyrian Lodge No.111 in Georgia, USA, where he had been passed, raised and made an Honorary Life Member.
As there are only a small number of Lindum Lodge widows it was decided to let those attending bring a family member or friend, so there were seven widows with guests, plus a widower.
It was a great opportunity for the widows to renew old acquaintances; indeed two of the ladies, whose late husbands had been Masters of Lindum Lodge in the consecutive years of 1977 and 1978, were very pleased to see each other after a long time, particularly as one of them had sung the Ladies Song at the other’s Ladies Evening!
A tour of the Nightingale Rooms was well received by all of the guests who had never visited the new building.
Lodge members gave special thanks to Sandy, the Nightingale Rooms’ caterer, for providing the wonderful refreshments, and to W.Bro Maurice Ward for providing incidental music throughout the afternoon.
Thanks also to those Lodge Members were on hand to provide transport for the guests, and to act as hosts.
