W.Bro. Malcolm Coates of Humberside Masonic Supplies has died aged 78. He passed away at home in the arms of his loving family on 31st January after a long and bravely-borne illness.
A member of Smyth Lodge No:2284 in Grimsby and Humber Lodge No:57 in Hull, Malcolm was a well-respected and good friend to many Masons, particularly in the Provinces of Lincolnshire and Yorkshire North & East where he was well known as the owner of his business in Hedon near Hull.
He had started Humberside Masonic Supplies about 43 years ago, and it will continue to operate from the same premises under the care of fellow director, W.Bro. Stewart Oxborough, of Lord Worsley Lodge No:3017 and Humber Lodge No:57.
Malcolm’s funeral will take place at 11am on Wednesday 3rd March for a private Cremation at Chanterlands Crematorium, Chanterlands Avenue, Hull, when Covid-19 restrictions will apply.
No flowers by family request, but donations if so desired to the Masonic Charitable Foundation. Stewart said: “Our thoughts and prayers are extended to Malcolm’s wife Catherine, daughter Patricia, son Michael, and all family and friends.”
