A donation of £250 from Scunthorpe Freemasons could hardly have come at a better time for staff at North Lincolnshire Council’s Treetops complex care campus.
Explained Freemason Nick Fell: “They were over the moon to have been given the money. They have just spent a lot getting the gardens and outside play areas sorted and safe, and were wondering how they were going to afford some of the new toys outside equipment they now need. Our donation will go a fair way to providing that for the children, and we are happy to see that the funds will be put to such good use.”
The money was raised at a social event run by and for the Freemasons at The Shires in Kirton Lindsey. Treetops provides first-rate facilities for children needing overnight short breaks and family support , including help to live independently. Staff will provide outstanding care for children with complex needs, including health and physical difficulties.
The centre, funded by the Department for Education, is a significant development for young people with complex disabilities. It is also the new home for The Cygnets respite centre, offering short-term care and supports families needing palliative care.
The centre has numerous sensory rooms, cosy dining and lounge areas, staff accommodation, and 13 accessible bedrooms catering to the unique needs of children. The facility also includes well-equipped kitchens and bathrooms, a medical room, and family-friendly spaces. A standout feature of Tree Tops is its serene gardens and outdoor areas, which are accessible to staff, residents, and their families, providing a peaceful retreat for relaxation and reflection.
