Eight members of Lincolnshire’s Armed Forces Lodge of Freemasons will be sleeping under the stars on March 29th to raise money for the Royal British Legion Industries.
They’re to take part in the Great Tommy Sleepout, a national fundraising challenge designed to support veterans experiencing homelessness in the UK, and asks fundraisers to sleep outdoors for at least one night.
The effort is being organised by Ryan Dolby, who said the intrepid eight would be sleeping at a central location that had yet to be decided. However, a fund-raising platform is already established, and you can donate at this link.
Ryan said: “The Armed Forces Lodge of Lincolnshire is a special interest Freemasons Lodge made up of serving members and veterans of the UK Armed Forces. Charity is at our heart and we could not think of a better reason to dig out the basha and sleeping bags, put out the roll mats, and spend a night under the stars.”
A spokesman for the RBLI said: “For the past 105 years RBLI has helped veterans by providing homes, jobs and welfare support. In 2024 we raised £1.2m through The Great Tommy Sleepout, which has enabled us to bring veterans in from the cold. Despite this, RBLI is still recieving a record number of requests for our services.”
