The video at this link shows Freemasons’ Hall as you’ve probably never seen it.
Built as a War Memorial to those who died in WW1 and standing at 60 Great Queen Street, it is the only art deco building in London still used for its original purpose, and as such has a far wider role than as the headquarters of Freemasonry. Since a picture is worth thousands words, this video paints a much more vivid picture of the inside of this architectural gem; at once the meeting place for Freemasons and the host for TV and film dramas and live entertainment of all sorts. It even appears on the cover of The Hallmarked Man, the latest book from the pen of J K Rowling, writing under the name Robert Galbraith.
Everyone – Freemasons and non-Freemasons alike – should visit it at least once. Its cafe is open to everyone, and tours can be arranged. Take a tour, and you’ll be able to spot the building’s features when it’s used as a backdrop for gripping TV and film dramas. Until you can get there, click the link in the first five words of this post to enjoy the film!
