A ten-mile walk and a night in a tent are not necessarily the first things you’d think about when working up an appetite for Sunday lunch – but that’s exactly what a group of Lincolnshire Freemasons have in mind.
The whole thing is being organised by members of the Free Wheelers Motorcycle Lodge and the Armed Forces Lodge of Lincolnshire, who are uniting to raise money for two Armed Forces Charities in what Chris Jones, no stranger to living in a tent after two years’ experience of it, jokes will be a weekend of cold, pain, and misery.
Ryan Dolby from the Armed Forces Lodge is organising the night in a tent as part of the Great Tommy Sleep Out, designed to raise funds to Royal British Veterans Enterprise combat veteran homelessness.
It will take place at Sudbrooke Scout Campsite overnight between March 7th and 8th, when all participants need will be plenty to eat and drink, the means to keep warm – and a tent.
Stewart Buckingham of the Free Wheelers is behind the ten-mile walk, dubbed the ‘March in March’. That’s a fundraiser for Combat Stress, which works to support veterans suffering mental health issues. The walk will leave the Lincoln Masonic Centre on Nettleham Road at 9.30am on Sunday March 8th, where walkers will return for a roast chicken Sunday lunch being organised by Chris Fletcher to which friends and family members are all invited.
