The third annual fishing competition between Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Mark Provinces took anglers to Newark with Nottinghamshire as hosts.
Organised by Bruce Routledge, DPGM of Nottinghamshire, the day proved to be a great success at the Portland Fishing Lakes for the five-a-side match.
A strong breeze hampered some on the north -east side of the water, but a total weight of 234 lb of fish including carp, chubb and rudd in only five hours was amazing considering conditions.
Nottinghamshire’s John Eldis took the prize for the heaviest fish , an 8lb 4oz carp – but this was his home turf!
Lincolnshire’s Dave Smith took the honours with a truly amazing heaviest weight of 47lb 11oz – but the Lincolnshire team’s overall weight of 137lb 11oz was a little heavier than hosts at 96lb 11oz.
Next year’s event will be in Lincolnshire.
