Being initiated into Freemasonry always makes a massive impression on the candidate – but when Deepan Velusamy joined Eccles Lodge at Spilsby it was a night that had the same effect on everyone present.
That’s because seventeen Lincolnshire Rough Ashlar members from all over the Province stepped up and delivered the ceremony, adding elements from their own Lodges and delivering ritual rarely heard.
Simon Noden was there, and said: “It was really impressive. They did pieces of ritual which you wouldn’t see unless you visited their Lodges. For example, members of Smyth did a piece I’ve never seen before explaining about the knocks on the door. Quite a few pieces were broken down and delivered by two or three members. It was definitely a ‘wow’ evening.
“It felt to me like a one-of-a-kind event.”
Ryan Dolby added: “Seventeen Rough Ashlar members from all corners of the Province took part in the ceremony. All floor work pieces in the ritual were completed by Rough Ashlars, with the exception of the Tracing Board which was expertly delivered by Dr Jaggar.
“It was clear to see that everyone that stepped onto that carpet had put in countless amounts of time and effort. The standard of ritual was fantastic and it was great to see so many brethren from Entered Apprentices through to Past Masters showing the capabilities of Lincolnshire Light Blues.
“Congratulations to Bro Velusamy, and thank you to Eccles Lodge for the invitation and trust you placed in our members.”
Shailen Munnien stepped back into the chair to lead the ceremony, at which Provincial Senior Warden Gideon Hall, who’s a member of Shakespeare Lodge which also meets at Spilsby, was making his official visit.
