Almost eighty members including Provincial Senior Grand Warden Gideon Hall gathered in Scunthorpe to watch Johnny Reed initiated into Freemasonry as a member of St Lawrence Lodge.
It was a special evening because it was the annual visit by members of the St Lawrence Mother Lodge Ancholme from Brigg, who were accompanied by a contingent from Lodges in Lincoln and a group from Yarborough Lodge in Gainsborough.
Not present was Junior Deacon Karl Lycett, who was held up in a motorway traffic jam on his way home from work which prevented him from getting to the meeting at all. His place was taken by Nick Probert, who stepped into the role at 15 minutes notice, and delivered virtually flawlessly.
Nick was full of praise for his fellow officers, and said: “Our younger members were all awesome and a credit not only to themselves but to our Lodge. They are all remarkable role models. My guests could not stop singing their praises.”
Johnny was presented with his ‘Freemasonry starter kit’, including Rough Ashlars welcome letter and tie, by Lodge Mentor Stuart Pearcey (below).
