The latest meeting of St. Botolph’s Chapter proved to be a real family affair with the exaltation of James Witts, son-in-law of Immediate Past Z David Witts, who also undertook a part in the ritual delivering the address to James.
The pair share a surname because James, with no living relatives, was so warmly welcomed into the Witts family when he met David’s daughter that he decided to change his name to theirs. And that means the Witts family name will go on, because David had only daughters.
Provincial Second Grand Principal Steve Roberts was there. Quite simply, it was Freemasonry as it is meant to be.
