As a memorial to the late Queen Elizabeth on the centenary of her birth Grimsby Freemason Ian Huggett shared memories of his time as part of the Royal Protection Service.
He spent many years travelling the globe with members of the Royal family, protecting many of the family in their duties in this country and abroad.
He was close to Queen Elizabeth, then Prince Charles and Lady Diana, and their children William and Harry, with a large part of his later career alongside Anne the Princess Royal, including visits to Grimsby.
With anecdotes about his career and the Royals, a large audience at Grimsby’s Pelham Suite really enjoyed his stories.
He recalled being told on a Thursday to get ready to fly to Australia, attend a Saturday function, and fly back from the Sunday, on what he called a weekend in Oz.
Ian appeared in many photographs in magazines and on TV with the family, and showed some amazing photos too, with him beside the Royals.
