Candleshoe Chapter Rose Croix has celebrated its 75th anniversary of its Consecration in June 1951.
The minutes of that event recorded an alms collection from the 31 present which came to £5 10s 3d – a somewhat paltry sum by today’s standards, but in those days it had a purchasing power equivalent to £224 today.
The generosityof Freemasons was as important then as it is today, but the ceremony on that day was no doubt as sincere and profound as the anniversary one when Chris Jones was Perfected into the Order.
Describing it as ‘fantastic’, Chris said: “I am really looking forward to witnessing another ceremony. It was incredible.” 26 members of other Rose Croix Chapters in Lincolnshire and beyond came to support Chris, and the evening ended with an enjoyable Festive Board of Lincolnshire fayre.
In proposing the toast to Chris, Bob Green summarised Chris’s career and his stroll around the UK. The anniversary was a special moment for the Chapter, made even more special by welcoming Chris and having so many come to support him.
The current Most Wise Sovereign Nev Stockdale added that evening had been a wonderful conclusion to his year in the Chair before he hands over to his successor in September, but above all it had been a landmark moment for the Chapter and its members – one they would long remember.
