Lincoln-based Minster Lodge has celebrated its diamond anniversary with a brief business meeting followed by a light-hearted description of the duties of the various officers.
Members and their guests shared a celebratory meal which was the same as that served when Minster Lodge first met in March 1976. Lodge Secretary Graham Cadel said: “During the evening the newly-appointed fire officer Ian Cumber lit the candles on a superb cake without setting fire to the building. Our Master Kevin Peutrill did his best to devour it all on on his own, but gave up and shared it with those present.”
After the meal the Secretary Graham read a brief portion of the minutes of the first meeting, recorded in fine copperplate handwriting by W.Bro Edmunds. Minster Lodge’s first Secretary .
The Provincial Grand Master presented the Lodge with a commemorative gift to mark the occasion and praised Minster Lodge for the manner in which it performed it’s ceremonies, saying that Minster Lodge had set the bar high for others to follow. There were gifts for everyone and the evening was deemed to be a great success.
