Four North Lincolnshire Freemasons crossed the Humber to visit Juno Lodge in Hull to hear fellow South Bank member Karl Lycett deliver his second award-winning lecture in two years.
Karl, of St Lawrence Lodge in Scunthorpe, won the Thomas Ferens Prize for the second time with a paper entitled ‘Opinion is Dead… Long Live Opinion’ – acknowledged by Lodge members as the highlight of the evening.
Lodge member Alastair Heaton said: “Karl presented a thoughtful and engaging lecture that challenged us to reflect on how we form, hold, and release opinions.
“His exploration of humility, discernment, and intellectual discipline resonated strongly with all present and encouraged reflection well beyond the Lodge room.”
Accompanying Karl were his Lodge colleagues Ian Needham and Rob Lang along with Chris and Chris Young-Woolley, Master and D.C. of Ancholme Lodge.
The evening concluded with a lively and friendly festive board, where an excellent meal and convivial conversation provided a fitting close to a memorable night.
Alastair added: “Our sincere thanks go to all who attended and contributed, and especially to Karl Lycett for a lecture that will be remembered long after the evening itself.”
