John Coates shares a laugh with his wardens after being installed as Master of Pharos Lodge in Scunthorpe on an evening during which the lodge added a contribution to the 2025 Festival.

John said: “Very emotional night for me going into the chair of King Solomon for my lodge, Pharos. It was a wonderful evening and we had a lot of fun and enjoyment.
“I made a special toast to the steelworks and steel men and women of Scunthorpe and the benefits they have brought to our great town and the Freemasons they have gifted us. We hope the recent events have brought peace and harmony to our Brethren and their families and the steel community and we are with you all the way.”
John was later to surprise Noel Fisher, who was representing PGM Dave Wheeler, by giving him a cheque for £2,000 towards the Festival. The pair over-reacted when asked to lift up the monster cheque for the photographs…
