Former East Kent Freemason Peter Butler had 50 years of Royal Arch membership celebrated with the presentation of his certificate at a meeting of Welland Chapter in Spalding.
Chapter Liaison Officer Michael Carter did the honours, praising Peter for his commitment to Royal Arch Freemasonry. He said: “Peter, during my time as Liaison Officer, and I know from others for many years before, that you have delivered ritual in a flawless manner and carried out the numerous tasks asked for you. The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent asked me to pass on his thanks for your dedication to the Royal Arch in Lincolnshire.”
When Peter moved to Lincolnshire he joined the Hundred of Elloe Lodge, and was a founder member of the Fenland Daylight Lodge, serving as its Master in 2016. He joined Welland Chapter in 2014.
Peter was exalted into Royal Engineers Chapter at Chatham, and became its Z in 1986. His profession was as a signwriter, and he went on to be a civilian tutor in the Army.
