A man who was a Freemason before England won the World Cup has had six decades of service recognised with the presentation of his third long service certificate.
Roy Curtis was initiated into Grimsby’s Lord Heneage Lodge in November 1965; became its Master in 1978, and still serves where necessary – even completing a year as Senior Warden in 2023/24.
He already holds certificates for fifty years in the Craft and the same number in the Royal Arch, when he has been made an honorary member of the Kitwood Chapter.
He was presented with his latest certificate by Stuart Pearcey, who was representing PGM Dave Wheeler at the Lord Heneage Lodge installation. Stuart said Roy’s dedication to Freemasonry was self-evident, and was a fine example to other Lodge members. Stuart said: “All of us merely hold Freemasonry in trust for the members that follow us; the commitment shown by Worshipful Brother Curtis shows us how we can all play our part in its future by making the best of it in the present.”
Ian Giles was put into the Chair by Ben Pharaoh, and then installed a team of enthusiastic officers. Stuart said: “The Lord Heneage Lodge has a team of officers who clearly love what they do, and are committed to putting in the effort to do it well.”
