Champion clay pigeon shooter and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight employee Peter Atkin has joined Ashlar Lodge in Lincoln.
He is the sixth new member to have been brought into the Lodge by former Secretary Steve Harrison, with another likely to follow at the April meeting.
It was the first ceremony for Damien Footsoy in the Chair, and went well in spite of last-minute forced changes in his team. Andy Briggs, who’d stepped in 24 hours before, became trapped in traffic and wasn’t able to get to the ceremony in time. That meant Andrew Taylor stepped in to replace the replacement with less than five minutes’ notice, but accomplished the role as well as the other pieces of ritual he delivered.
Richard Kent gave a memorable and inspirational delivery of the North-East Corner, giving real meaning to Freemasons’ commitment to charity.
Sixty attended the ceremony, including members of not one but two Excalibur Lodges; Lincoln’s own and one from Nottingham, whose members had been invited by Senior Warden Rob Birch.
In our picture Peter is seen with Damien, the Wardens, Deacons, and Steve Harrison.
