On the same night in two Lincolnshire locations fathers have helped their sons along the path of Freemasonry.
In Lincoln, Ashlar Lodge DC Ian Taylor controlled the ceremony in which his son Andrew became Worshipful Master, and in Boston’s Pilgrim Fathers Lodge IPM Derek Scarboro took the gavel to initiate his son Dan.
Ian had been in the chair to initiate Andrew, describing it as the best night of his Masonic career. However, their memories varied about the lead-up to that night. Ian said his son had asked if he might become a Freemason; Andrew said: “I don’t remember that, thought I do remember being given the form…”
During the evening Graham ‘Teddy Man’ Cadel was given £400 to support his work with the Teddies for Loving Care scheme, which had been raised at Ashlar’s Ladies Evening.
In our picture above Andrew gets his hand on the gavel for the first time, with dad Ian right, and Installing Master Dale Atkins, left. The picture on the right shows Derek and Dan.
