The ongoing lockdown has affected the physical and mental health and well-being of many brothers, with many sadly experiencing a loss in fitness and unwelcome weight gain.
Today saw the launch of the Lincolnshire Provincial Fit Club with the sole aim of bringing brethren together to support each other in their personal fitness goals.
Whether that be to lose weight for medical reasons, a realisation that their weight is not healthy, a desire to increase their fitness levels or just to avoid having to buy a masonic suit in the next size up! 17 brothers and 1 well know candidate who has been waiting to join for over a year took the plunge and signed up to the new scheme to be the Biggest Loser.
The scheme will initially be in place for three months running from now until 2 May with each individual setting their own personal targets. Meetings will be held virtually every other Sunday during which moral support and brotherly love will be available to help each brother achieve their own specific goal. Hints and tips on appropriate healthy eating and fitness regimes will be on offer together with friendly and positive banter and natural inter Lodge competitiveness.
An online facility is also available to allow sharing of ideas and tracking personal progress.
If you have ever wanted to get fitter but lacked the motivation or knowledge, it is not too late to join; to take part a donation of just £15 is being requested which will be split between the two biggest losers at the final weigh-in in May and donated to a good cause of their choice. The brother may, if they wish, also attract additional sponsorship for their own good cause.
This initiative is being managed on this occasion by Ashlar Lodge 5219, and if you would like further information or to sign up please email W. Bro. Mike Martin at mike@griffinhouseconsultancy.co.uk
