The formal handover of the Lincolnshire’s wreath for The National Memorial Arboretum Ceremony of Remembrance on November 1st took on particular poignancy with the unexpected death of a member the Lodge chosen to send it on its way.
That was Chris Clark, right, Tyler of the Free Wheelers Lodge, who suffered a heart attack whilst riding his motorbike only days before the handover ceremony.
The sad news made performing a ceremony of Raising a real challenge, but the members of the Lodge rallied and did a wonderful job for candidate Brother Mooney.
For its handover to the Lincs Imps Widows Sons Chapter, who’ll take it to the Arboretum, the wreath was given a guard of honour made up of Army and veteran RAF servicemen, including Tony Ellis who had joined the Lodge only that day. Chris had served in the RAF.
Lodge Liaison Officer Ian Castledine handed over the wreath on behalf of The Provincial Grand Master.
Organist Nick Garner played The Dam Busters March, seen as a fitting tribute to the departed Free Wheeling Brother.
