More than 80 turned out for the first team visit of the new season to watch Harry Elliot initiated into the Round Table Lodge of Lincolnshire, where his dad John is DC.
The team was out in force. Not only was the PGM Dave Wheeler present, but so were his Deputy John Crutchley, Assistants David Bird and Jez Hyland, and the season’s new Wardens Gideon Hall and David Carter.
The ceremony was conducted to a very high standard, and saw Festival honorifics presented to JW Tristran Russell and past masters Hugh Westlake and Alan Robinson. Hugh was initiated into the Lodge in 1992, and Alan on the same date as Harry, May 20th, but in 1969.
Chris Jones proposed the toast to Harry. He took the opportunity to ‘tour’ the Festive Board to introduce him to the people who taken a part in his father’s initiation in October 2007, and still regularly came to meetings. Harry’s grandfather Raymond had also been a member of the Lodge.
Harry is the first of two Lewises to join the Lodge this year; the current plan is that Peter Jude’s son Charles will be initiated in November.
The raffle raised more than £400, which was given to Jez Hyland’s Three Peaks Challenge in aid of the Festival, taking place in early June.
