Two men whose interest in Freemasonry was sparked when they attended an Open Day 18 months ago have joined Sir Isaac Newton Lodge in Grantham in a double initiation.
Simone Assenza and Jason Hughes could hardly have had a better night on which to join, since PGM Dave Wheeler was there, leading 30 members of this year’s Provincial Team.
Lodge Master Bijal Ladva explained: “Almost 80 brethren were there to enjoy a double initiation. The initiates, both from Grantham, joined by first coming to an open day at the Masonic Hall on Chambers Street over 18 months ago, arranged by members of the five lodges in Grantham. They were then invited to the Curry Club organised by Chris Watkin, where they met me as their proposer. On the night of their initiation both were presented with cases with everything they’ll need for the start of their masonic journey.
“We hope everyone had a great evening. The Brethren who took part put in a tremendous amount of effort, and it showed. They should all be very proud. There was a little bit of pressure performing in front of so many distinguished guests, but everyone made it a most enjoyable evening.
“The Sir Isaac Newton Lodge meets on the third Monday of the month and would welcome any visitors. Please contact sirisaacnewtonsec@gmail.com. for more details.”
