Grimsby’s Astral Lodge Freemasons have fuelled the passion for sewing amongst a group of ladies called the Haven Quilters by giving them £250 to support their work.
The ladies meet every Tuesday at the Grimsby Masonic Hall to make items for the community. These range from small bags to be filled with essential items such as facecloths, soap, toothpaste, crayons, paper and small toys for local families to
incubator covers, hats, blankets and quilts for Grimsby’s Neonatal Unit, heart cushions for mastectomy patients and drain bags for the Breast Care unit at Grimsby Hospital, sensory cushions for children in the Special Needs Unit, and children’s quilts for Women’s Aid.
The money, from the Lodge Benevolent Fund, was handed over by Simon Dixon, the current Astral Lodge Master, to quilters, (L to R) Mrs J Miller, Ms C Bellini and Ms A Cheesborough.
