A performance worthy of Shakespeare came to Lincoln’s Hugh of Avalon Chapter when a team from the Derbyshire Motorcycle Chapter Display Team demonstrated the Savage Royal Arch ritual of exaltation.
That was the view of one of the 80-plus Companions packing the building to watch the demonstration, who said of the performance of Harry Paterson in the role of Z: “It’s like the Royal Shakespeare Company.”
Grand Superintendent Dave Wheeler encouraged the Lincolnshire companions to reflect on the ceremony they’d seen, and its clarity for the candidate, and urged them to consider if any aspects could be taken back to their own Chapters.
The Display Team had been invited by Lincolnshire’s Deputy Grand Superintendent Mike Rix, and the event was driven by the Lincolnshire Learning & Development team headed up by Nick Brown, who is also the Hugh of Avalon Chapter DC.
The event coincided with the birthdays of Dave Wheeler and Jason Fitzgerald, the host Chapter’s Scribe E, so the evening concluded with a rendition of Happy Birthday.
