Retired GP John Pemberton has been honoured by The Lodge of St John for his fifty years as its organist with the presentation of a commemorative cake.
John said: “It was a great treat for me when the Lodge celebrated my fifty years as organist to St John’s with a wonderful cake at our last meeting.
“I would like to thank all the brethren for that thoughtful celebration. I would also like to thank the person who made and iced the cake with such skill.
“I shall continue to serve the Lodge of St John as organist for as long as I am able, but I cannot guarantee you another fifty years!”
John was initiated into a London Lodge in February 1970, and became a joining member of The Lodge of St John in 1976. He has also been guest organist for other Lodges, but although he is stepping back from those appearances he will continue to play at his Craft Lodge and the Chapter of St John, both in Scunthorpe.
