Horncastle Freemasons have given the 2nd Coningsby and Tattersall Beavers £500 towards new camping equipment, taking the opportunity to tell them about Freemasonry and its members.
The money from the Horncastle Masonic Benevolent Fund will be put towards the Beavers’ target of at least £6,000 to buy a new mess tent, patrol tents and a box trailer to carry all the equipment for when they go away on camp.
After handing over the funds Malcolm Frost, a Horncastle Freemason and Treasurer of the HMBF, explained who Freemasons are and what they do to help people like the Beavers. After his brief talk, Malcolm answered a number of questions the children asked about Freemasons.
Ainsley Brader, a member of Sir Joseph Banks Daylight Lodge based in Horncastle and a Trustee of the HMBF said: “The children are also being active in raising the money they need, and a bag packing service they provided in a local supermarket raised a massive £509.78.”
