The annual Franklin Lodge Charity Golf Day organised by W. Bros Chris Smith and Ian Turner took place on Saturday 18th of May at the Kirton Holm golf course. The Worshipful Master Simon Clayton Tee’d off the first group out and then walked with them for the first hole but then returned to the clubhouse saying that “Mark Twain could have been right about a good walk spoiled” and that he would make sure the alcoholic refreshments were up to the standard expected among Masons.
After a slight shower drove some of the less hardy golfers back to the clubhouse, the more enthusiastic golfers were back in the clubhouse checking score cards by early afternoon where after having eaten they were given a short talk about the work of the charity ‘Local Hope’ by a representative of the charity Bob Green who was then presented with a cheque for the money raised on the day amounting to £318-00 by the Worshipful Matser and the Charity Steward Bro. Norman Wakefield.
